Clare Balding has been announced as patron of Retraining of Racehorses, a charity that supports the welfare of retired racehorses through retraining and rehoming them.

Balding, whose father was a renowned horse trainer and who presents Channel 4's racing coverage, commented 'I am delighted and honoured to become a patron of RoR. I have followed their work for many years and have been impressed at the range of equestrian pursuits in which former racehorses can find a happy and meaningful second career'.
